What We Do
Our members are a testimony to people's ability to continue living despite having been through this disease. We interact with them specifically in the area of Emotional Support as against the current trend of becoming advisors.
- We provide a safe environment to share experience and draw from others in similar predicament.
- We offer group and individual counselling and emotional support.
- We provide information regarding hospital services and availability of funds for those below poverty line.
- We help you understand negative feelings of fear, anger, frustration, shame, and hopelessness.
- We help you access your own strength leading to β βI can deal with itβ feeling.
- We empower caregivers to deal with the requirement of their role and the situation keeping in mind their own health and other needs.
- We listen to your story and help you see the meaning in your situation.
- We offer these services telephonically, online and face-to-face.
- Our Support Group meets twice a month.
"Cancer support groups are a meeting for people with cancer and anyone touched by the disease including the family. Even though most of the people receive support from friends and family, the number one reason they join a support group is to be with others who have similar cancer experiences. Research shows that joining a support group improves both quality of life and survival. As a cancer surgeon, I have always found a need for a support group for many of my patients. I have always felt that they would do better when supported by such groups. There are many patients who have helped each other in the process of treatment and healing. Often many practical problems are solved by these conversations. Patients have helped each other in coping with the side effects of treatment. I have been associated with CTH for a long time now. I feel a rejuvenated group would be a great asset to society."- Dr Sandeep Nayak
